In this program I offer personalized help throughout the entire process of affording college from when you first start applying until you send in the deposit next May. I do this through the following steps:
1) Counseling on how to think about affording college with emphasis on how much can you afford from income and assets. We also go over where to put money so that you get the best financial aid award.
2) Real time insight into the financial aid profile of the schools you are looking at and how
they may fit in terms of affording college.
3) Explanation and help with completion of the necessary financial aid forms
4) Explanation and role of the SAI
5) Review and comparison of all financial aid award letters with comparison clearly laid out
in the Affordability Index spreadsheet
6) Appealing to schools for more financial aid if appropriate
There is a lot about affording college and the financial aid process that is time consuming and confusing, and questions frequently come up. Throughout this time, I make sure that I am available to help whenever needed. The goal is to make it as easy and clear as possible so that you can afford the best school possible.
The best time to begin is May or June of junior year but the program is extremely helpful whenever it is started.
Especially helpful for high income families
This program goes over all the financial aid award letters received to make sure the appropriate amount of financial aid was offered. There are many reasons why the financial aid package would be low, and I do a thorough review to find any and all discrepancies. The most common issues that can trigger need for an appeal are a low offer compared to the student's academic record, unusually high medical expenses, dramatic change in income, multiple children in college at same time and a better offer from a similar school. There is almost always a reason to file an appeal so let me expertly craft one to get you the money you deserve.
Is your student currently heading towards the end of junior year of high school? Is the word "college" starting to bubble up in conversations? If so, that is good, it is never too early to start the process. In fact, the sooner you start the more control you have especially in terms of cost. Contact me asap to learn how to afford college. There are a lot of moving pieces to consider but there is always a great school you can afford, you just need to know how to look.
